What to do with the Nest Egg

I have to decide what to do with my Group RRSP now that I am no longer employed by my former employer. One of the options I have is to keep it with the same investment company. A preliminary peek at the information about that on their website boldly proclaims, "easy!" and "low fees!". But to get any further information I have to call and speak to someone. That's a red flag for me. Is this someone an advisor? Would I be moving my money to an actively managed account? I realize that it currently is in a managed account but the fees really are quite low and yes, it was easy to just leave it all there rather than moving it into ETFs or elsewhere. I was getting a company match and it was done through payroll so it all made sense at the time.

What I am now leaning towards is a Do It Yourself Solution but I'm not ruling out more of a hybrid approach using a robo advisor. I've narrowed it down to a few options, all of which require research before making my move.

1. Wealthsimple;

2. ModernAdvisor;

3. WealthBar;

4. Vanguard ETFs through Questrade; or

5. Current provider.

In addition to lower fees I'm looking for ease of use. I want to be able to log onto a website and see how my investments are doing whenever I want. And make changes if I want. I don't want to have to call someone to get anything done. I have some small holdings with a company like that and it's super frustrating. Especially since my advisor and I no longer see eye to eye. I've learned a lot since I started with them over a decade ago and am more than comfortable making my own decisions. Plus that advisor is much more risk-averse than I am.

Over the coming weeks I'll be researching each of these in turn and writing a detailed review of my findings.
